      Agroskills offers English language training for international employees whose native language is Polish, Romanian, Turkish, or Ukrainian. Our snowball method—which focuses primarily on speaking—helps participants progress faster than traditional methods, which often lead to unmotivated participants. By emphasizing speaking, participants progress more quickly than with textbook exercises alone. The course is available at A1 and A2 levels and consists of 15 in-company (or open enrollment) sessions of 2.5 hours, with a minimum of eight and a maximum of 15 participants per group. Each training session is delivered by instructors who speak the participants' native language. This principle ensures that participants feel comfortable more quickly, allowing them to make more progress and communicate confidently in English. The levels are: A1: Beginner; simple words and short sentences. A2: Broader vocabulary; longer sentences and simple texts. Participants receive a handbook with assignments and homework, which, in addition to the practical lessons, supports their language development. However, the English course focuses primarily on speaking, helping participants build confidence in using the language more quickly. Afterward, they take a test and receive a certificate indicating their language level (A1 or A2) as proof of their achievement.

      Tensioned anti-algae cover for water silos

      When water is stored in an uncovered silo, algae growth and other forms of contamination typically run rampant. The likelihood of irrigation systems becoming blocked as a result is high, leading to all sorts of undesirable consequences. An anti-algae tensioned cover prevents contamination and keeps the water permanently clean. In addition, the storage capacity of the water silo is maximized because the cover reduces wave action and evaporation. Genap’s tensioned covers are available for both indoor and outdoor setups of water silos. They are manufactured using Genatex® 700, a specially designed open weave fabric that is permeable to water while effectively keeping out dirt and light. The tension covers are made with an overlap and a reinforced hem with eyelets, making them easy and secure to stretch over the silo. Access to the silo is possible through a manhole, which can be optionally installed. Genap’s tensioned covers are suitable for use in silos of various diameters, for both indoor and outdoor applications. For indoor use, the tensioned cover is available for virtually any diameter, while for outdoor use, the cover is warranted for silos up to a diameter of 7 meters.

      In addition to the open or semi-enclosed Genafloat, Genap also offers a tensioned cover for narrow water reservoirs, perfect up to 23 metres in width. This unique cover fully encloses the reservoir and is made from a water-permeable, anti-algae, and dirt-repellent material. The tension cover remains securely in place thanks to support and tension straps, anchored by hardwood poles in the embankment.* The tensioned cover is made from black HDPE open woven fabric, known as Genatex® 700, a high-quality open woven fabric that lets through water but stops dirt and light. The tensioned cover is attached to the sides using straps and a reinforced edge all around the cover. The cover is attached to poles on the outer banks of the water reservoir using ratchet straps. The cover is fully tensioned over the lagoon, resulting in complete coverage. To prevent the cover from sagging, it rests on support straps that are stretched across the reservoir. The cover is tensioned using a guide strap with ratchet buckles, attached to an anchoring pole* at the outer banks of the reservoir.

      The Daylight Greenhouse: up to 50% energy savings The Daylight Greenhouse has diffuse insulating glass, but is also equipped with an installation that allows the grower to harvest excess heat. This system can cover approximately 50% of the heat requirement. Also, the greenhouse creates an optimal light distribution to the plant, resulting in better quality and production. Special features of the Daylight Greenhouse: The greenhouse deck is fully equipped with insulating glass; 16 Fresnel lenses are placed between the double glazing of the south deck (provided with anti-reflection coatings on the four glass sides for maximum light transmission). The greenhouse is directly below the deck equipped with movable collectors, which consist of black painted tubes filled with running water. The Fresnel lenses concentrate direct sunlight in thin focal lines. The black painted tubes are precisely placed in these lines, so the running water heats up by the radiation. The tubes automatically move with the position of the sun, so that they are always in the right position. The 'harvested' energy (at Ter Laak approximately 20 m³ of natural gas equivalents per m²) is stored and reused by means of existing techniques (wells, heat pumps, day buffer systems). Only 100% diffuse light remains for the plants, resulting in better light distribution. As a result, the greenhouse no longer needs a screen installation and in the winter the crop needs fewer hours of artificial lighting. The first prototype of the Daylight Greenhouse (500 m²) was tested at the Wageningen University site. The resulting demo type (4,000 m²) was delivered to Ter Laak Orchids in Wateringen in 2014 and was extensively tested in collaboration with Wageningen UR. In 2017-2018, a second Daylight Greenhouse of five hectares was realised at Ter Laak. The Daylight Greenhouse was nominated for the GreenTech Innovation Award in 2014.
